Tafelberg Fotografieklub

Lede vergader twee keer per maand op ‘n Dinsdagaand by Chrismar Villas, Jessiestraat, Bellville (oorkant Bellville Hoërskool).

Tafelberg Photography Club History

The club was founded on 20 August 2005 with 16 members. Jan Swiegers, a Sanlam employee, shared his idea with a few friends. It was received with such enthusiasm that they immediately went into action and created the club. The club is affiliated with the PSSA (Photographic Society of South Africa).

The purpose of the club is to create opportunities for people interested in photography, to pursue their passion within an environment conducive to experimentation and the sharing of knowledge; to interact socially while presenting their works for evaluation and at exhibitions such as the annual exhibition in the Sanlam Art Gallery which is a highlight for our members.

Members meet twice a month on a Tuesday evening at Chrismar Villas, Jessie Street, Bellville (opposite Bellville High School). The annual programme consists of monthly competitions with a set theme, discussion sessions as well as workshops. Excursions take place from time to time which gives members the opportunity to take photographs together and learn from one another.

Our club participates in the annual Western Cape Interclub competition, as well as the annual PSSA Interclub competition. Some of our members have excelled in national and international Salon competitions. In April 2010 the club successfully hosted its first National Digital Salon.
